LJ is quiet with so many peeps in L.A.

*twiddles thumbs*

Are all you guys in L.A. having fun?

You’re probably mixing and mingling and networking and schmoozing and occasionally hugging and squealing and stalking John Green enjoying the crowded-with-creative-types-craziness that is SCBWI.

kellyrfineman is probably being her funny self and carriejones is being kind of shy but getting hugged a lot and lisa_schroeder is being adorable and talented because she can’t shut it off, it just pours out of her and seaheidi is skulking around John Green or maybe chatting openly with him! and lisayee is introducing Peepy to a new crowd and … oh good, “Monk” is on.

Post soon, you guys! I miss you.

I know! There's like an echo in here. ...in here...in here...

Hi Lisa!!!

Kelly is indeed being her funny self and John videotaped her saying hi to Hank, for his Monday video. Check in and see if he uses it. Heidi got a HUG from John Green!!! She was over the moon!

Me, I didn't even say hi to John Green. Too shy! :) But I did ask Julie a question in the talk Julie and John did together (Julie is his editor). I asked her, after all the revisions and all of the times you read it, did you know Alaska was something incredible? And she had the coolest answer. She said she can clearly remember reading it on the train, the version that was "the one." (John says there's probalby only 10% of the original Alaska is in the final one. Julie says she thinks that's maybe not quite true). Anyway, she said she looked out the window and it was as if time stopped. She had this feeling that told her nothing from here on out will ever be the same.

Anyway, it's not nearly the same me telling it here, but it gave me goosebumps.

I haven't seen Carrie Jones yet, to give her a hug for you! But I'll keep looking!!!

What a great question for Julie S-G! She's my dream editor. She's the only one who has the first 3 chapters of my YA, the rest of my queries went to agents. I hope someday to hear from her! (She's had it since Feb.)

I'm enjoying a day of gardening while I wait for the next round of visitors. It started out overcast, but it's sunny and beautiful now.

Yeah, I've been thinking about everyone over there. I just read Lisa's post from one of the sessions and it sounds all so warm and cozy. I'm glad so many LJer's get to see each other. I'm waiting to see Kelly in John Green's video!

It was fabulous. But it would have been much fabulous-er if you'd have been there too. We talked about you, y'know, me and Lisa Schroeder.

My copy of Austenland arrived from the library!

I'm about 25 pages into it. Did you call it 'fluffy'?

So far, it's full of wonderfully fluffy goodness!

I had to go back to see what I did say, since fluffy didn't sound quite right. Turns out I went with "charming and fluttery and a frothy bit of wish fulfillment." Here's the link, if you care.

And I look forward to reading it again. It's a quick read (really no longer than watching a movie), and it's complete escapism.
