Am I Late for the Gratitude?

Was that a Monday thing?

Here are my five gracias-inspiring things:

1) Coffee.

2) Cuddling in the chair with my kid, watching "Monk." I know that any minute that pastime is going to go away. He'll be too big or too cool.

3) Finally getting the difficult timing right on Debussy's "Deux Arabesques, (Part I)." I used to play this perfectly when I was young. Then I went for a long time without a piano. We've had a piano for a few years now, and I've been re-learning all my old music. This one is hard, in that your right hand kind of has to ignore what your left hand is doing. :-)

4) The telephone.

5) Critique-ing a friend's really terrific YA manuscript. It's so good that I can't wait to get back to it each day. And she even wants my opinions!

Debussy is tricky on most pieces, isn't he?

Fun to discover another pianist here :D

(Though, in all honesty, I haven't played seriously since college -- I did practice a few weeks ago to show my son that everyone has to work at staying good...I usually work on Brahams because I love the drama :)

Yes, there are only a few Debussy pieces I've learned to struggle through. "Clair de Lune," of course, and a couple of others.

Yeah, I did the 'clair de lune' as well...and did I spell Brahms wrong? I think I did...sigh :)
