Love the Pacific Northwest

It's supposed to rain all weekend here.

You know what that means to me:

When jbknowles asked me how the WIP was going, I did a word-count last night.

Um ... 1,019 words in the past (winces) 12 days.

Maybe I'm a sprinter. 8000 words in one gush ... then 1000 in a pitiful dribble.

I will try to crest the plot-hill I seem to be climbing at the moment.

I love the idea of being a sprinter. Whatever works.

Use the rain.

Good luck!

Sometimes the words come more easily than others. I don't count words very often--usually I mark my progress in pages--but I'm always aware of my personal best (and how infrequently I match it). Lately I'm just happy if I don't hate everything.

Good luck!

Hahaha -- when I read your post, I thought you said SPINSTER.

I'm a sprinter, too. I can't do it any other way. I wrote my cookbook in a matter of a couple of months. Most of my last novel was written in a couple months as well. Unless I'm inspired, it's all dribs/drabs.

I don't care what anyone says about "YOU HAVE TO WRITE EVERY DAY." Blah blah blah. That never worked for me.

Why am I not surprised that you're a sprinter?
