Thankful Thursday

Look what was waiting for me in the mail yesterday!

An Advance Reader Copy of THE MERMAID'S MIRROR! I was so excited to see the cover in person. The water droplets effect is so pretty, and I love the dark, moody ocean in the background.

I got this idea to pose with the book like I did with my FLASH BURNOUT Advance Reader Copies.

And of course my Photoshopping skills are ... basic. So I called upon the expertise of my friend Saundra Mitchell - anywherebeyond - and she kindly took time out of her busy schedule of getting ready TO GO TO THE EDGAR AWARDS next week (her book is a finalist!) to put the ocean in front of me. She even made me glow.

The stretch of ocean in my photo is from Half Moon Bay in northern California. I took it early one morning last November ... I love that it's dark and moody, too.

I'm so excited and nervous to know that these ARCs are going out in the world! They were printed without my most recent edits, so I feel like I should personally contact everyone who gets a copy and explain which lines changed. :-) I added a few names to my Acknowledgments during the last round of edits, too.

Oh, and I only got two copies, and they're both spoken for, so ... I'm sorry I can't offer any up.

Hey, have I ever posted the book's description? No? Well, here it is, straight from the back cover:

Lena has lived her whole life near the beach – walking for miles up and down the shore and breathing the salty air, swimming in the cold water, and watching the surfers rule the waves – the problem is, she’s spent her whole life just watching.

As her sixteenth birthday approaches, Lena vows she will no longer watch from the sand: she will learn to surf even though her father forbids it. Because something keeps drawing Lena to the water … an ancient, powerful magic. And one morning Lena catches sight of this magic: a beautiful woman – with a silvery tail.

Nothing can stop Lena from seeking the mermaid, not even the dangerous waves at Magic Crescent Cove.

And soon … what she sees in the mermaid’s mirror will change her life forever.
