Six Things on a Sunday

Before I forget!

If you’re not already watching the Debut2009 community, you might want to start. You never know when a package of awesomeness might find its way to one of our friends.

Would it be weird for someone to Photoshop a picture of a spider to make it look like the unlucky seven-legged spider mentioned in this post?

Septy, is that you?

Heh. I didn’t ’shop the photo. That would be … disturbing. Here he is later in the day with all his legs visible. But that means this is not Septy. I hope he or she went on to live a fulfilling, if non-octopodal, life.

I had Indian food with annecy_dit Friday night. It was lovely to meet her. It’s so interesting to meet people you’ve known only online. Like a blind date, except you already know bits and pieces of their lives. Putting a face to a name is always satisfying. We talked about Portland and writing and books. I think we could have talked for hours, but the people waiting for our table would not have appreciated that. We'll have to do it again soon.

I was reading Laini Taylor’s blog and came across a link to another writer’s revision tips, complete with photos of hot English guys. The tips were good, too! Check out her post, the 9/9/08 entry: http://naturalartificial.blogspot.com/

Those of us embarking upon JoNoWriMo 2008 might benefit from some fresh ideas!

I was so sorry to hear about David Foster Wallace. I read the news just before I was going to start writing, and it made me jumpy and sad. I finally gave up and tried again later in the day.

It’s hard to lose a member of the tribe.

R.I.P., DFW.

That's a great story about the spider. Funny. And that ain't him/her hanging there. Maybe a buddy wanting revenge.

I don't think I've killed a spider since ... out of guilt!
