Lost and ...

Things found on my nightstand:

Things found in my WIP(s) this week:

Several thousand new words, including a few like this:

I stop in front of my dad’s bedroom door. The status board says, “Out,” but I peek inside, anyway. Empty. The status board came into existence when I was seven years old, and able to read proficiently. The options are: Out, Awake, Sleeping, Working, and Busy. I learned early that I could interrupt anything except ‘Busy.’

Things found in the Democratic party this week:

Unity, excitement, and pride.

Things found in my heart during the Democratic National Convention this week:

Happiness and hope.

Things learned Tuesday:

Weird Al Yankowic was at the Oregon State Fair Monday. (My 10yo actually cried when he found out he’d missed him.)

Things found on my windowsill:

Things found on my iTunes’s “Recently Added” playlist (all for my son):

4 episodes of The Flintstones – yes, he is finally experiencing the genius of The Flintstones and he loves them as much as The Simpsons.

Eminem’s “When I’m Gone” (audio and video)

Metallica’s “Enter Sandman”

Ozzy Osborne’s “Crazy Train” (It’s true … Guitar Hero and Rock Band have introduced a new generation to old head-bangers.)

Things found in my dogs’ ears:

Eeeeek! The vet showed them to me under the microscope.

Things found in the upcoming weekend:

An extra day. Yay!

I just bought Crazy Train from iTunes! Isn't a great song?
My best friend performed it on guitar once, and I've loved it since then.

See? New generation ... old head-bangers. You're part of a trend!

Yay for new words and inspiring Dems!

...and boo for things in your dog's ears. EEK.

The poor dogs have had a mini-village of those things living in their ears. (Still shuddering.)

That's quite a collection!
*covets Tim Wynne Jones Book*
I assume that's Diana's son?
What kind of a story is it? I have such a hard time finding anything by her in this area, much less her offspring...

I'm assuming it's her son, too. Believe it or not, it's my first book from either of the family members!

I'd be happy to send it to you when I'm finished!

Cool! Maybe I can trade you for one of hers-- I did find the third in the Chrestomanci series(but it doesn't seem like reading the first two is necessary to enjoy the story!)

Oh no - Weird Al was at the fair? My kids would have been disappointed too.

We need to get Guitar Hero or Rock Band. Well, okay, maybe "need" isn't the right word. :)

And several thousand new words??? GO YOU!!!

We don't actually have either of those two games, but my son plays it every time he goes to his friend's house.

hey. I've been wanting to talk to you about the possibility of teaming up to do a talk or something about Boy Books.

Where are you in this world. Do you go to any conferences?

Awww! *sniff* Poor little guy!

That thing inside your dog's ear was truly disgusting.

I've been proud to be a Democrat this week. Can't wait for tonight's speech.
